Airborne Allergies
North Texans are bothered mostly by ragweed Sept-Oct, mountain cedar Jan-Feb, oak April, and grass in May.   Most of June-August the pollen count is low. Texan allergy symptoms can develop within a few years of moving here.  Seasonal weed tree and grass allergies as well as perennial dust mite mold and cat dander are evaluated by an IgE blood test, avoiding risk of allergic reaction and discomfort of skin testing.  Allergy drops are then made according to specific IgE levels for each allergen, using the same allergen found in allergy shots.  

Food Allergies
Chronic delayed-onset food allergy is much more common than airborne allergy.  Symptoms usually occur several hours after ingestion of a favorite food or drink.   For example night time nasal congestion, snoring and mouth breathing can occur hours after dinner, causing restless sleep and daytime fatigue.  Often water is kept at bedside for the dry mouth.  Other common symptoms include repeated sneezing, runny nose, ear/nose/eye/skin itching, coughing spells/wheezing, headache, abdominal cramps/diarrhea, blocked ears/ringing.  Sinus infection is common.  Nasal congestion may worsen seasonally because of concomitant allergy such as ragweed and dairy/melon.  Allergy drops are made following symptom relieving sublingual drop trials using the Allertol® method.  Consider delayed food allergy when multiple symptoms are present all year, occur indoors and outdoors, multiple remedies have been tried without success, and when allergy skin/ blood tests are inconclusive.
